Alaska Experience
Miki
Can't thank you enough for helping us plan our trip to Alaska. We were celebrating our 40th anniversary so we wanted something special. The Millenium was unbelievable in service, food, entertainment and accommodations. We also did the land tour through you and were very impressed with the exceptional tour guides, hotels and surrounding areas. We made our own excursion plans and felt we did a pretty good job of it..Enjoyed the Wild Dog Sled Show ($20 each) in Anchorage. Kind of "hokey" but fun and informative. Skip the ULU factory...just a tourist trap. Went to the Alaska Zoo-more of a recue than the normal type zoo-but fun to see. Great dinner at Osso Restaurant. We saw an abundance of wildlife...even a bear walking through town in Denali. Eat at the Salmon Bake--good food and variety. Denail Park bus ride was very informative and beautiful. Our favorite trip was the helicopter landing on the glacier in Skagway ($278 each) and even drank glacier water. It was breathtaking. We loved the whale watching trip in Juneau ($135 per person) and saw 12 humpback whales. We also took a tram ($25 each) up Mt. Robert and took a nature hike. A high point for my husband was the zip line ride($92 per person) in Icey Straite Point. We also did a beach and nature trail there and enjoyed just being outdoors in such beautiful country. Decided not to sign up for any excursions in Kethican so we went to the Museum in the center of town.... they gave us a walking tour map and we saw salmons swimming upstream, a totem pole museum, a fish hatchery and eagle rehab. ($20 for both museums) The high point for our friends was finding a fishing pier just before the salmon fish ladder where you could fish/release salmon for a $25 license fee and a $10 pole rental....Only city we didn't enjoy was Talkeetna--it was very small and very primative. Not much to see. Lodge was beautiful. We did do a float boat trip($65 per person) there and it was very peaceful. Salmon Bake in Fairbanks was ok--($37 per person)--cafeteria style. Didn't care for the Riverboat Trip in Fairbanks--informative, short, and very touristy (Indian Village) . The excursions were very expensive, but we'll never get back there again, so they were worth it. Everything was very organized and professional. We LOVED our trip and have 900 photos to prove it!
